Rosecrance Health Network will cohost ‘The Truth about Vaping’ training for parents on November 6, 2018 at the Lyons Township High School (South Campus in the Performing Arts Center) beginning at 7:00pm.

Led by Rosecrance, the Parent Community Network, and The Coalition for Drug Free Lyons Township, the presentation is a parent’s guide to the truths of vaping. It will cover topics such as:

  • What is vaping?
  • Is it dangerous?
  • The possible signs my child is vaping and what to look for.
  • The effects on children – physically, emotionally and mentally.
  • What can parents do and how to talk to your children?
  • Is it a concern/problem within our community?

Rosecrance Community Relations Coordinator, Matthew Quinn, will further highlight vaping terms and devices, the effects of nicotine and THC on the adolescent brain, and educational and treatment services at Rosecrance.

The presentation is 60 minutes, followed by a 30 minute panel discussion. In addition to the presentation, there will be a display at 6:30 pm mirroring a typical child’s bedroom, called Hidden in Plain Site. This bedroom will showcase where devices and supplies can be hidden.
