Resilience Builders: A children’s outpatient group for Rosecrance Resilience families
We recognize that being part of a family with a member in a high-stress profession can present unique challenges. To address these specific needs and build resilience within the family, Rosecrance Therapies offers Resilience Builders, a supportive and therapeutic outpatient group for children ages 8 to 12.
Rosecrance Resilience is a specialized treatment program designed specifically for first responders, frontline workers, and individuals working in safety-sensitive occupations. These individuals serve in high-risk, high-stress professions, which may spark grief, trauma, anxiety, or depression, and subsequently can fuel substance use, maladaptive functioning, and mental health challenges that affect the family.
We recognize that being part of a family with a member in a high-stress profession can present unique challenges. To address these specific needs and build resilience within the family, Rosecrance Therapies offers Resilience Builders, a supportive and therapeutic outpatient group for children ages 8 to 12. This group is designed for children whose parents, guardians, or close family members work in high-stress fields such as law enforcement, fire services, healthcare, emergency response, and skilled trades. These children often feel the impact of workplace stress, trauma, or irregular work hours, and the Rosecrance Builders support group is a safe space for healing, growth, and connection.
Resilience Builders equips children with the tools and support necessary to:
- Enhance emotional wellness and develop coping skills
- Address symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression, grief, and secondary trauma
- Strengthen self-awareness and self-regulation
- Foster a sense of safety, connection, and peer support
- Promote resilience and improve family communication
Support group sessions
Children aged 8 to 12 meet in person once a week for 90-minute sessions of guided group discussion and peer support, led by licensed clinical treatment providers who specialize in trauma-informed care and child development. Each session includes age-appropriate psychoeducation, and participants will take part in interactive activities and expressive therapies, such as art, movement, and games. These activities are designed to help them develop resilience-building tools for managing everyday challenges.
