CEO Dave Gomel recognized for driving growth and innovation in behavioral health

This recognition reflects Gomel’s commitment to excellence and serves as a shining example of leadership in the behavioral healthcare landscape.

Dave Gomel, Chief Executive Officer of Rosecrance Behavioral Health, has been named a 2026 Notable Leader in Health Care by Crain’s Chicago Business, an honor recognizing some of the region’s most impactful and forward-thinking leaders.

Crain’s Notable Leaders program acknowledges trailblazers across industries who are shaping the future of their fields, making a profound impact in their communities, and actively championing progress in pivotal areas such as sustainability, equity, and community engagement.

Gomel earned this distinction for his transformative leadership over the past five years. Guiding Rosecrance with a clear strategic vision, his leadership emphasizes compassion, accountability, and excellence, values that have become deeply embedded in the organization’s culture.

Under Gomel’s direction, Rosecrance has experienced remarkable growth, expanding by 50% while maintaining staff satisfaction above 93%. In an industry often challenged by high turnover, the organization reduced its rate to 33%, the lowest in a decade and well below the industry average.

“This recognition reflects the dedication of our entire team. Every day, they show up with compassion and a deep commitment to helping people heal,” Gomel said.

Gomel has led major expansion efforts throughout Chicago and into northwest Indiana, while launching specialized programs to support veterans, first responders, law enforcement, and labor unions. In response to evolving community needs, he also championed the integration of eating disorder treatment services into the Rosecrance network, further expanding access to essential behavioral healthcare.

This recognition reflects Gomel’s commitment to excellence and serves as a shining example of leadership in the behavioral healthcare landscape.

“The stories of those we serve stay with me. They remind me why this work matters and push us to keep growing, improving, and showing up for our communities. I’m truly proud to be part of this work,” Gomel said.
