Spring into giving at Rosecrance Flower Day
Timed for the Thursday before Mother’s Day, Rosecrance Flower Day offers residents an opportunity to purchase plants, flowers, and gifts while supporting a local cause
A long-standing spring tradition is set to return to the Rockford area as Rosecrance Flower Day brings together community members for a day of giving and gardening ahead of Mother’s Day.
The annual event will take place on Thursday, May 7, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at both Gensler Gardens locations: 8631 11th Street in New Milford and 102 Orth Road in Loves Park. Proceeds from the day will support Rosecrance programs that provide mental health and substance use treatment services.
Timed for the Thursday before Mother’s Day, Rosecrance Flower Day offers residents an opportunity to purchase plants, flowers, and gifts while supporting a local cause. Gensler Gardens, a family-owned nursery known for its hanging baskets, annuals, and perennials, donates a portion of the day’s sales to benefit Rosecrance.
The event traces its roots back several decades to a small flower sale held at the former Rosecrance adolescent treatment campus on Alpine Road. As interest grew, the sale expanded and eventually moved to a larger space at Edgebrook shopping center before evolving into the community-wide event it is today.
Organizers say Rosecrance Flower Day continues to draw strong local support each year, combining seasonal shopping with an opportunity to give back. Funds raised help expand access to care and resources for individuals and families navigating mental health and substance use challenges.
With spring planting season underway, community members are encouraged to stop by, shop, and take part in a tradition that continues to grow while making a meaningful impact.
