Remembering Beverly Rosecrance: A life of artistic expression, service, and legacy
Beverly’s life was one of community engagement, artistic expression, and quiet strength.
Today, we mourn the loss of Beverly Rosecrance, who became part of the Rosecrance family through marriage and remained a beloved and dedicated member throughout her life. She held a deep connection to the mission and values that have defined Rosecrance since its founding in 1916.
Beverly’s life was one of community engagement, artistic expression, and quiet strength. She was an active member of her congregation and participated in numerous cultural and philanthropic organizations. Her commitment to service reflected the very spirit of the Rosecrance mission: to offer hope and healing to those in need.
In 2013, The Rosecrance Foundation honored Beverly and her late husband, Robert Rosecrance, with The Castle Award. The award recognizes outstanding individuals whose lives embody the compassion, vision, and commitment to service that began with Dr. James and Fanny Rosecrance, founders of the original Rosecrance Memorial Home for Children.
The Castle Award ceremony paid tribute to the legacy of Dr. James and Fanny Rosecrance, who opened their New Milford home to children in need in the late 1800s. After Dr. Rosecrance’s passing in 1901, Fanny continued to live frugally in their family home. Upon her death in 1912, she left behind a generous estate, including a 260-acre farm that she had designated in her will to serve as a refuge for children. Her vision became reality on August 11, 1916, when Illinois officially incorporated The Rosecrance Memorial Home for Children.
The legacy continued through the generations. Beverly’s husband, Robert and their daughter, Laura, along with Robert’s father, Ralph, all served on Rosecrance boards. Today, that legacy lives on in Beverly and Robert’s children, Laura and William, and in the thousands of individuals and families who find healing and hope through Rosecrance Behavioral Health.
From the first orphan welcomed into the Rosecrance home more than 100 years ago, the organization has remained centered on people — those we serve, those who lead, and those who support our mission with time, talent, and generosity.
A Celebration of Life for Beverly Rosecrance will be held Friday, May 8, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rosecrance Griffin Williamson Campus, 1601 N. University Drive, Rockford, Illinois.
