Rosecrance, Sierra Tucson present ‘Self-Sabotage in Recovery’ Oct. 25 and 26

Rosecrance and Sierra Tucson present “Addressing Self-Sabotage in Recovery” Thursday, Oct. 25, in Oak Brook and Friday, Oct. 26, in Skokie.

The speaker is Libby Timmons, LILAS, CEAP, SAP, a master’s level clinician, certified experiential therapist and certified addictions specialist. She has extensive training in psychodrama, addictions and experiential therapy and has been in private practice for more than 16 years. Her areas of expertise include addictions; trauma; physical, emotional and sexual abuse; co-dependency; adult children of alcoholics; inner child and family of origin work; and 12-step programs.

Timmons will present a lively and interactive program that will give attendees clear tools to assist their clients through the recovery process. The presentation will offer experiential activities that can be used in both group and individual sessions. Topics covered will include relapse warning signs, ways to identify process addictions and activities to address roadblocks to the sobriety plan. The objectives are to explain two tools to assist clients in identifying self-sabotage patterns, discuss three choices used to change destructive behaviors and describe how to assist clients in moving from the victim triangle to the recovery triangle.

The Oct. 25 program will be held at The Clubhouse, 298 Oak Brook Center, Oak Brook, IL. Registration and appetizers will be from 6:30 to 6:30 p.m., with the presentation following from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Oct. 26 program will be held at McCormick and Schmick’s, Westfield Old Orchard, 4999 Old Orchard Center, Skokie, IL. Registration and continental breakfast will be from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m., and the presentation will follow from 9:45 a.m. to noon.
