Alumni Picnic 2014

Rosecrance alumni host picnic to celebrate the miracle of recovery

On Saturday, August 16, 2014, Rosecrance hosted the Alumni Family Picnic at Alpine Park in Rockford, IL. The event was attended by an estimated 120 alumni, family, friends and staff.

The day was filled with activities for everyone in the family. Children and adults enjoyed face painting by our young adult alumni members. Rosecrance Sr. Addiction Counselor Mary Ann Kelly and her son led games. Rosecrance Harrison Campus Primary Counselor Nannatte Heshelman and her son made balloon animals for the kids. Several attendees participated in the bags tournament. Attendance prizes were given throughout the day.

At one point everyone broke out in song while enjoying music provided by RHC alumni family member Geoff C. One alumnus stated: “I had a blast - is it possible to have another picnic before the end of summer?" The Rosecrance Alumni Advisory Committee worked together with several alumni and their families to present the family picnic atmosphere, which made this event a great success.

On August 3, 2014, Rosecrance alumni, family and friends enjoyed an afternoon of bowling and fun! Everyone had a great time with lots of laughs. Renee L., friend of an alumnus, shared her thoughts: “One of the reasons I was afraid to get sober was I didn’t think I would have fun (even though I was miserable). Days like today show us how much fun we can have in sobriety.” The next family bowling event is September 13, 2014, in Wheaton, IL (details below).
