Rosecrance takes second place in Run for the Kids 5K in Chicago

The Run for the Kids 5K, presented by Ignite the Spirit and co-sponsored by Rosecrance, was held Thursday, July 18, at Soldier Field in Chicago.

Rosecrance took second place at the event, with a team of runners and walkers who braved the heat to help children. Several runners from Rosecrance placed individually as well, including Recovery Home Technician Anthony Hardin, who came in third place in the race. Also, volunteers from the Rosecrance staff helped with registration at the event.

The race is held annually by Ignite the Spirit, an organization that was launched in 2003 by Chicago firefighters in response to the attacks of 9/11 and to help the families of first responders. The organization grew to embrace several causes, with a special focus on those that help children. This year’s event helped Chicago children’s hospitals as well as children affected by the Sandy Hook and Boston Marathon tragedies.

Here are some photos from the event.
