Rosecrance physicians receive recognition for their work in mental health, addiction fields

Several Rosecrance physicians have received recognition for their work in the mental health and addiction fields this past month.

Michael A. Kuna, M.D., a psychiatrist at the Rosecrance Ware Center as well as having his own practice, has received the 2015 National NAMI Exemplary Psychiatrist Award. “Dr. Kuna has given of his time over the years to serve individuals in the Community Mental Health Setting with serious mental illness, as he believes these individuals benefit from his expertise,” says NAMI in its monthly newsletter. Dr. Kuna is Illinois Board Certified in both Psychology and Addictionology. He is able to provide care for the total person.

Dr. Uma Srivastava is the Medical Director for Rosecrance Ware Center and has been elected to join the NAMI Northern Illinois board. Dr. Uma Srivastava has been practicing medicine since 1981 after attending University of Allahabad with her Internship and Residency at Brookdale Medical Center. Dr. Srivastava is a Board Certified physician through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is also a member of the American Association of Physicians of India (AAPI) and the Illinois Indian Medical Association.

Also, Dr. Raymond C. Garcia, M.D. gave a lecture on “Addiction is a Brain Disease” to about 40 AP Psychology and Sociology students at Hononegah High School in Rockton, IL on May 12, 2015.
