Register Star article celebrates NAMI’s 30th anniversary

In Friday’s edition, the Rockford Register Star writes about the 30th anniversary of the National Alliance on Mental Illness’s Northern Illinois affiliate and its continuing efforts to spread knowledge and reduce stigma surrounding mental health issues:

“NAMI is busier than ever during its 30th-anniversary year because awareness of mental illness continues to increase, but people seeking treatment still face gaps in access to medical services and insurance coverage.

“Mental illness affects 1 in 4 adults and 1 in 10 children in the U.S., according to NAMI, but mental health funding is one of the areas where lawmakers have slashed spending in recent years.”
