In the news: Rosecrance in Naperville to discuss increased drug, alcohol use

Rosecrance Director of Outreach Programs Claudia Evenson spoke in Naperville on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, about recognizing warning signs of drug abuse.

Evenson spoke as part of the Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation monthly meeting. The event was covered by the Naperville Sun.

The well-known incident involving Naperville North High School students celebrating the first day of school by showing up intoxicated left a distinct impression on many parents in the community.

The students might have thought they were pretty cool.

“Adults didn’t think it was so cute,” Bob Buckman, Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation president, said Saturday at the group’s monthly meeting.

The confederation decided to deviate from the homeowner’s association issues it usually talks about to spend one Saturday taking up the cause of educating the Naperville community on how to raise drug-free kids.
