Adolescent substance abuse services
Addressing an adolescent’s struggle with substance abuse means understanding the emotional, developmental, physical, psychological, familial, social and cultural factors involved in their addiction. At Rosecrance, we have developed an evidence-based, 12 Step-based program that incorporates clinical, medical, educational and experiential therapies into a comprehensive individualized treatment plan.
Your length of stay in any treatment programs is dependent on your progress and accomplishment of treatment goals — as determined by you, your counselor and, when appropriate, your family.
If you will be entering treatment through the Rosecrance Health Center, check the following list for items to bring or leave:
Most patients stay 35 to 45 days, but this is based on individual needs. Group counseling is provided six days per week. Primary counselors and case managers complete at least two individual sessions with the patients and one family session with the family and patient per week.
The Intensive Outpatient program focuses on recovery skills while you stay in your home environment. Topics of lectures and groups include coping skills to prevent use, relapse prevention planning, the disease of addiction and its impact on an individual and their family, recovery management skills, anger management, using sober support, thinking errors and the effect of drugs on your body.
Clients in the Intensive Outpatient program are required to submit a drug screen each week.
Rosecrance has two adolescent recovery homes: A beautifully restored, turn-of-the-century home in a residential neighborhood for males and a warm, prairie-style home on the Griffin Williamson Campus for females.
Through this gender-specific program, adolescents learn to overcome barriers that hinder them from lasting recovery. Services focus on developing the skills and personal characteristics needed to live independently in the community and/or effectively reintegrate with families or caregivers.
The Rosecrance recovery home program includes individual and group counseling, family education and counseling, 12 Step meetings, secondary, higher and vocational education opportunities, interpersonal skills training, life skills building, recreational activities, relapse prevention and more.
An individualized transitional living plan is developed for each resident. Qualified professionals, under the management of a clinical director, provide 24-hour supervision.
