Thomas WrightDr. Thomas Wright, MD
Chief Medical Officer/Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs

Dr. Thomas Wright oversees all medical operations for Rosecrance. He specializes in working with adolescents who have a co-existing or secondary diagnosis in addition to an addiction disorder. He has more than 20 years’ experience in the field. Dr. Wright is certified as a child and adolescent psychiatrist by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and in addiction medicine by the American Society of Addiction Medicine. He served on the faculty at Northwestern Medical College in Chicago and at The University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago and Rockford. Dr. Wright is a regular conference presenter and has been recognized as a medical educator and leader in the field of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He joined Rosecrance in 2005.

maryannabateMary Ann Abate, MS, LSW
Vice President of Public Policy

Mary Ann Abate is the Vice President of Public Policy for Rosecrance Health Network. She addresses issues impacting behavioral health services by closely following pending bills, laws and regulations that could potentially impact substance abuse and mental health treatment, funding and access. Mary Ann addresses issues such as prevention, treatment and education and provides advocacy for Rosecrance in order to implement new public policy as necessary. Mary Ann is a licensed Illinois social worker who obtained her MS  in Community Mental Health from Southern New Hampshire University. She also received a graduate certificate in clinical services to individuals with co-occurring  substance abuse and psychiatric disabilities from Southern New Hampshire University.  Mary Ann began at the Janet Wattles Mental Health Center in 1982, where she previously served as director. She most recently served as Rosecrance VP of Community Mental Health from 2011 to present. She has long been active in community service organizations, including Easter Seals Children’s Development Center, Junior League and Source. Mary Ann currently serves on the Board of Carrie Lynn Center for Children, Homeless Task Force and Illinois Mental Health Advisory Board.

maryeganMary Egan, MAM, CADC
Director of Outreach

Mary Egan worked for nearly 17 years as the Student Assistance Program Coordinator for a Chicago area high school. Her experiences include facilitating the intervention and student support teams, developing a mandatory smoking education program, training and supervising peer mediation, Students Against Destructive Decisions and student helper groups. In addition, Mary provided training and education for students, staff, and parents on substance abuse and related issues. Prior to this position she served as Prevention Specialist for Cook County Sheriff’s Youth Services. She holds a Master’s of Arts degree in Counseling from University of Illinois at Springfield and two Bachelor’s degrees in Alcohol Education and Psychology. Mary joined Rosecrance in 2008.

davegomelDavid Gomel, PhD
President of Rosecrance, Inc.

Dave Gomel is the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Rosecrance Health Network. Gomel has more than 19 years experience in the Behavioral Health field providing direct clinical services as well as holding numerous administrative roles. Gomel earned a Doctorate of Philosophy in Public Policy and Administration with an emphasis in non-profit administration from Walden University in Minneapolis, MN, a Master of Science Degree in Health Service Administration from the University of St. Francis and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Northern Illinois University. He is also a certified Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (AODA) Counselor. Gomel serves on a number of local, state and national behavioral health committees, nonprofit boards and trade organizations. Dave is an active member of the Rockford community volunteering with many charitable organizations.

Craig Riehle is Director of Access, overseeing all first contact activity, assessments and admissions for Rosecrance. He joined Rosecrance in 2004. Riehle earned his B.A. from Northern Illinois University and his M.S.W. from Aurora University.
