Residents participate in evidenced-based outpatient counseling groups two times per week, as well as individual and family counseling. The counseling focus includes but is not limited to the 12 Step recovery process, sponsorship, step work, relapse prevention, communication skills, life skills, self- esteem, solution focused problem solving skills, and gender-specific issues. An individualized transitional living plan is developed for each resident.
Psychiatric Services (top)
Residents with dual diagnosis issues will be provided psychiatric services for medication management and any needed ongoing assessment to maintain their emotional well-being.
Educational Opportunities (top)
Rosecrance stresses the importance of reaching educational goals. With the resident and family, we evaluate each individual's academic needs to ensure attainment of his/her academic goals. Residents who have not completed high school will be enrolled in our local schools which include public, private and parochial options. If you have obtained your High School Diploma or G.E.D. , you can pursue an Associates Degree or Vocational Education at Rock Valley College or work towards a Bachelor’s Degree at Rockford College.
Residents who enter into the program late in a school semester will be enrolled in the school program provided on site at the Rosecrance adolescent inpatient program until the end of the term. Here he/she will be given an independent curriculum structured for them to assist in earning some credits.

- He/she must be 14-18 years old and need on-going stability and structure to maintain recovery.
- He/she must be free from all mood altering substances for at least 21-30 days prior to admission.
- He/she must be eligible to meet American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria for outpatient programming.
Family Participation (top)
Residents are all encouraged to work on the development of a healthy support system. Families are a vital part of this system. The disease of addiction is a disease that impacts not only the addict but the entire family. As part of the healing process, we encourage family participation as a means to work towards rebuilding these relationships. In recovery, it is important for families to learn about the disease of addiction along with the addict.
Family sessions are scheduled one time per month or as needed. Families often have a distance to travel, so we will work with family members to accommodate schedules. A family’s input is encouraged in order to improve upon the resident’s successful recovery efforts.
