Kelly Dinsmore, B.A.
Director of External/Business Relations

Kelly Dinsmore is responsible for the development of new business relationships, management and oversight of insurance/managed care contracting, and supervision of Rosecrance’s growing alumni programming. Kelly is returning to Rosecrance after three years in the position of National Outreach Manager, Central Midwest for Hazelden Foundation. She previously held the position of Community Relations Representative for the Rosecrance Health Network. Kelly earned a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from Eastern Illinois University and holds a certificate in secondary education. She is a member of numerous professional organizations including the Southwest Coalition of Treatment Providers, Illinois Consortium of Assistance Programs for Professionals, and the Illinois Northern Employee Assistance Chapter.

Judy Emerson , M.S.
Director of Development

Judy Emerson is responsible for the annual fund campaign, writing grants, public policy oversight, and enhancing relationships with friends of Rosecrance in order to secure funds needed for vital programs and charity care. For more than 22 years, Emerson was a noted columnist and journalist for the Rockford Register Star and was named “Features Writer of the Year” for GateHouse Media in January 2008. She serves on the YWCA Bright Future Scholarship Award Committee and the Rock River Valley Pantry Advisory Board. Emerson holds a Master of Science in Communication from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Oregon.

Claudia Evenson, CSADC
Director of Outreach

Claudia Evenson oversees outreach services in the Chicago area including our three satellite office operations. In addition, she coordinates various community activities such as educational programming in schools and early intervention classes. Claudia holds a certificate in Addiction Studies from Felician College and is a Certified Supervisor Alcohol Drug Counselor. She currently serves as a delegate to the Illinois Student Assistance Professional Board, as well as sits on the Community Network Regarding LGBTQ Youth for DuPage County, Illinois. Claudia has worked in the addictions field for more than 25 years.

Denita Lynde, B.A., CADC
Director of Monarch Recovery Homes for Adolescents

Denita Lynde oversees the operation of the Monarch Recovery Homes program, which serves adolescent who have completed primary substance abuse treatment. Denita is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (CADC) and holds a degree in psychology from Northern Illinois University. She serves on the Illinois Task Force on Women’s Issues in Treatment. Denita was a Unit Coordinator at the Rosecrance Griffin Williamson Campus for adolescents since 2003.

J. Scott Nelson, M.A. NCC LCPC CRADC
Staff Education Coordinator

J. Scott Nelson develops and facilitates initiatives related to program development, career development, performance improvement, and continuing education. Scott presents training workshops on a variety of addictions topics both on site and in the community. He is currently a doctoral student at Northern Illinois University where he teaches the Chemical Dependency class for graduate counseling students. Mr. Nelson earned a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University and is currently a doctoral student at Northern Illinois University.  He is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, a Certified Reciprocal Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and a Teaching Associate of Medicine at the University Of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford.  Scott has a limited private counseling practice at Aspen Counseling and Consulting, LLC in Rockford, IL. He was a primary addictions counselor prior to accepting his current position.  He is also an ordained minister, served as a police chaplain for five years, and a pastoral counselor specializing in sexual abuse for eight years in Indiana prior to moving to Rockford in 2005.

Christine Nicholson, B.F.A.
Experiential Therapies Department Supervisor

Christine Nicholson oversees all experiential activities for adolescent clients that encompass art, fitness, horticultural and recreational therapeutic activities. She supervises a team of experts in their specialty area and conducts internal staff development. Christine holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Rockford College. She is a recognized Rockford area artist with works on public display. In her position at Rosecrance, Christine has participated in several research studies on the role of horticulture and art in addiction treatment and recovery. She has worked with adolescents for six years.

 

Susan E. Rice, MS Ed
Director of Communications

Susan Rice is responsible for coordinating all aspects of media relations, brand management, advertising, publications and digital communications. She previously held the position of Director of Communications for a private, educational institution for more than 10 years. As a reporter she was recognized with the Wisconsin Council on Developmental Disabilities Media Award for print journalism. Additionally, she operated her own graphic design and marketing business providing support to various not-for-profit organizations and small businesses. Susan taught courses in communications at Aurora University and leadership at Eastern Illinois University. She holds a Master of Science in Education from Eastern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and English from the University of Iowa.
